Standard Donkeys

Bonnie and Clyde

In 2018, Clyde strolled right up to me in a field where I was working and gave me a huge hug. He followed me around and “helped” me the rest of the day. The following year, his owner fell ill, so Clyde and his jenny friend Bonnie came to live with me.

Now, a jenny is a female donkey, and Bonnie and Clyde are a pair of standard donkeys who are rarely apart and look like twins, even though they’re not related. Born in 2009, Bonnie is double-registered and quite a character with a very loud bray. She’ll holler for her buddy even if he’s only a few feet away working on the pony carousel.

Clyde, born around 2011, spent most of his life with Bonnie until he passed away in 2024.

They are so tame that my kids often perform vaulting tricks on them, standing on their backs with one foot on each donkey or jumping on and off.

Clyde was a birthday party favorite with his big ears and super soft hair. He’s even been hired for “over-the-hill” parties and festivals geared toward adults, giving hugs and kisses from a kissing booth humorously labeled “Kiss My @ss!” or he will charm guests by carrying drinks on his back, adding a unique touch to the festivities.

Check back soon for commemorative Clyde merch! He was a famous donkey and will be deeply missed by many.
